John Legend is continuing his work in the world of television with a new series for WGN based on Black Wall Street.
The series will be produced through Legend’s production company Get Lifted, and will be about a black affluent neighborhood of Tulsa, Oklahoma which was brought to ruins in 1921 by white citizens. It also left roughly 300 black people dead.
According to The Wrap, the series is in the early stages of development along with Legend’s business partners Mike Jackson, Ty Stiklorius and actress Tika Sumpter.
Legend is no stranger to developing great shows for WGN. He’s currently the executive producer for the very successful show “Underground,” a TV drama about Southern slaves fighting for freedom.
We have a feeling this new show will be just as good!
